Commercial Steel Doors and Frames
Stairwell doors, washroom doors, mechanical rooms and back-of-house service doors. We supply, install and replace commercial steel doors and hollow metal frames, from one worn opening to a full building.
Call our Calgary team403-650-5232We look at the whole opening
A steel door rarely fails on its own. Worn hinges let it sag, the latch stops catching, the closer works harder, and the frame takes the damage. So before we quote, we check the frame, hinges, lock, closer and seals along with the door.
That tells us whether the opening needs a repair, a new door in the existing frame, or a matched door and frame package. If the opening is fire-rated, needs card access or will get an automatic operator, we plan for that from the start.
From a small service call to a full-scale replacement, we repair, adjust or replace doors and hardware of every kind, and bring openings back up to code. Our focus is durability, code compliance and a clean install, so every door we service is safe and built to last.

Standards behind a steel opening
From the Canadian Steel Door Manufacturers Association's 2025 fire labeling guide.
Frames tested to CAN/ULC-S105
Fire-rated steel frames are built to CAN/ULC-S105, or to proprietary designs tested under CAN/ULC-S104.
CSDMA Canadian Fire Labeling Guide, 2025Thermally broken frames can't be rated
CSDMA lists thermally broken frames among the conditions not eligible for a fire rating, so an exterior frame and a rated frame are chosen differently.
CSDMA Canadian Fire Labeling Guide, 2025One louvre per rated door
A fire door can take one labelled louvre, no larger than 610 by 610 mm, and none at all above a 1-1/2 hour rating.
CSDMA Canadian Fire Labeling Guide, 2025, Note 13Projects and hardware schedules
Our steel door and hardware packages have gone into offices, apartment buildings, schools, warehouses, banks and stores in Alberta and B.C. Our project managers have installed fire-rated steel doors, hollow metal frames and electrified hardware themselves, so they catch problems before they reach site.
Whether it's a multi-storey residential building, a retail development or a specialized facility, we deliver code-compliant door and hardware packages on time and on budget.
Poorly written Division 8 and 10 hardware schedules cause duplicated products, hardware that doesn't work together, and recycled schedules that don't fit the job. (One apartment schedule we were handed had been lifted straight from a prison project.) When we're awarded a job, we review and rewrite the schedule so every door and piece of hardware is specified correctly the first time, with no unnecessary change orders. See specification and consulting.
We work with steel door and frame manufacturers including Daybar, Ambico and Artek. For the fire door rules behind it all, see our NFPA 80 guide for Alberta.

Send photos of the opening, the frame and any labels, or your door schedule, and we'll quote it.
Can a new door go into our existing frame?
Sometimes. If the frame is square, solidly anchored and the hinge and strike preparations match, a new door can go in. Damaged, out-of-square or wrong-rated frames are better replaced with the door.
Is every steel door fire-rated?
No. A fire rating comes from a tested, labelled assembly: door, frame and hardware together. A plain steel door without a label isn't a fire door, however solid it is.
Do you supply doors for new construction?
Yes. Send the architectural door and hardware schedule, and we'll quote doors, frames and hardware as one package. We can also review the schedule for conflicts before you order.
Where do you work?
From our Calgary head office (403-650-5232) and Edmonton branch (780-306-9000), across Alberta, and on projects in British Columbia. You can also email service@limitlessdoors.com for a quote or help choosing products.
