Commercial Door Installation in Calgary
Every Calgary installation runs the same four steps: quote, site visit, plan, install. The plan is where most door problems get caught, before anything is ordered, by project managers who have installed these systems themselves.
Call our Calgary team403-650-5232Tenant improvements and occupied buildings
A lot of Calgary door work happens in buildings that are open for business. It might be a new tenant's storefront in an occupied mall, a stairwell door replacement in an office tower, or new washroom operators in a clinic that can't close. Tell us the building's hours and access rules at the site visit, and we'll plan the installation around them.
We install hollow metal doors and frames, including fire-rated assemblies; automatic sliding, swinging and low-energy entrances; aluminum storefronts and glazing; painted, laminated and veneer wood doors; and hardware including electrified locks, exit devices, closers and access control connections.
How a Calgary installation runs
Quote
Send us the drawings, the door schedule or a few photos of the opening. Call 403-650-5232 or use the quote form.
Site visit
We measure the openings and check the conditions: the structure above, the floor, the power supply and what's already there.
Plan
We check the hardware schedule against the drawings, confirm fire ratings and barrier-free requirements, and order materials. Installation dates are set with you.
Install
We hang the door, set the frame and hardware, commission the operators and walk through every opening with you before we leave.
Calgary permits and the barrier-free exceptions
Two rules decide a lot of Calgary door projects before a single door is ordered.
New openings need a building permit
Calgary requires a permit for alterations to structural or non-structural walls, which covers cutting or widening a door opening, and for exterior changes that don't match the approved development permit.

On a double door, only the active leaf needs the power operator. Where an entrance has several doorways, only one of them has to comply.
NBC(AE) 2023 3.8.2.7.(2) and (3)Where Alberta requires a power door operator
- Barrier-free entrance. The entrance itself, including the inner doors of a vestibule.
- Path to suites. Doors along the barrier-free path from that entrance to suites or rooms off a public corridor.
- Barrier-free washrooms. The entrance to any washroom with a barrier-free toilet. We install complete restroom control kits: operator, electric strike, push buttons, relays, door contacts and an emergency option. See automatic door openers in Calgary.
Send drawings or photos and we'll come measure the openings.
Can you install as a subcontractor under our general contractor?
Yes. We subcontract door, frame, hardware and glazing packages on new construction and retrofit projects, working to the GC's schedule. Division 8 and 10 support is part of it, from reviewing the hardware schedule to the final walkthrough of every opening.
Do you install doors in multi-family buildings?
Yes. We work on multi-family projects as well as commercial, healthcare, education, retail and industrial buildings. Multi-family work typically includes stairwell and corridor fire doors, suite entry doors in fire separations, and the building's barrier-free entrance operators.
Who checks that the hardware actually suits each door?
We do, during the plan stage. Before ordering, we review the Division 8 and 10 schedules against the drawings. If the specified hardware doesn't suit the door, its rating or how the opening is used, we rewrite that part of the schedule and flag it to you.
