Door Hardware Repair in Calgary
A closer that slams, a panic bar that sticks, a latch that misses the strike. Small hardware faults turn into failed fire inspections and locked-out staff. We repair and replace commercial door hardware across Calgary.
Call our Calgary team403-650-5232Hardware is what makes a door work
Most commercial door calls aren't about the door. They're about the closer, hinges, latch, strike, exit device or lock on it. One worn part throws the others out: a sagging hinge drops the door, the latch misses the strike, and someone props it open.
We check the hinges, frame and strike before replacing anything, so the fix holds. That covers mechanical hardware, plus electric strikes, maglocks and access control hardware where the door is part of a security system.
Why the grade of the hardware matters
ANSI/BHMA grades set how many cycles a part must survive in testing. On a busy door, the grade decides how long the repair lasts.
| Hardware | Grade 1 | Grade 2 | Grade 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Door closers (A156.4) | 2,000,000 cycles | 1,000,000 cycles | 500,000 cycles |
| Exit devices (A156.3) | 500,000 cycles | 250,000 cycles | 100,000 cycles |

Do fire doors in Calgary need closers?
Yes. A fire door has to close and latch by itself after each use, so a closer and a working latch are part of the rated assembly. Wedging the door open or removing the closer defeats the rating.
Can you match the hardware on a fire-rated door?
Yes. Parts on a rated door have to be listed for that use. We read the labels on the door edge and the frame first, then order hardware that keeps the assembly's rating.
Who maintains the doors on a +15 link?
The City's Plus 15 Policy puts routine maintenance of the link, including its security and access control devices, on the property owner. We repair the doors, closers and access control hardware on those links.
Do you re-key locks?
Yes. Re-keying, cylinder replacement and full hardware replacements are part of our locksmith work for commercial buildings.
